Harpenden Front Garden Design Hertfordshire
This front garden in Harpenden was large and mainly laid to lawn, sadly it was regularly dug up by badgers and needed to be replaced with a low maintenance solution that was attractive throughout the year. The solution was to create a pebble garden with a large central Cornus contraversa 'Variegata' (Wedding Cake tree). The tree which grows as wide as it does tall was ideal as the focal point at the centre of the pebble garden and was underplanted with Euphorbias, Lavender and grasses. The perimeter of the garden was also planted to provide colour, interest and structure close to the house. A range of cobbles, pebbles and gravel were used to create a low mainteance beach effect, which also looks very attractive in rainy weather as well as during the summer months.
"Heartwood Garden Design renovated our back garden planting and we were so happy with the proposals that we also asked for solutions for our difficult front lawn. Now both areas have been planted and we are delighted with the diversity of plants and the general effect. Our front garden is a large area but is is very low maintenance and allows us to focus our energy on the back garden which we also love."
